Experimentation, production and distribution in contemporary art are the search engines of 3e Imperial. Since 1984, it circulates at high speed on the roads of creation, disturbing monotonous habits, innovating distribution rules, providing artists occasions for production and reflection about their art, and public with meeting opportunities. The story of the 3e Impérial illustrates the path taken by the artists-managed center in search of new contexts, original and contemporary thoughts based on the powerful desire to communicate.
3e Impérial favors the development of contexts of production and exchange in which artists are challenged to participate. It provides a space for experimentation, intervention, and access to production and distribution services. It promotes the development of practices that questions the relationship to materials, spaces and audiences. This approach is characterized by the establishment of a residency program and technical assistance to help support its welcome and exchange mission. It is complemented by a dissemination program (exhibition, performance, forum, publication, video documentation) focused on the presence and movement of art in various communities.
